Candy cane stirrups get their name from the distinctive curved upper arm that creates a natural cradle for the lower leg in lithotomy positioning. The telescoping vertical post locks from 28″ to 44″ above the table surface, while the hooked arm secures the ankle strap — no complex pneumatic boot mechanism required.
Surgeons prefer them for speed and operative access. They adjust single-handed in seconds, can be repositioned mid-procedure without breaking sterile field, and leave the entire foot and lower leg exposed — critical in vaginal, perineal, and anorectal cases where perineal access determines the working angle.
